In the injection molding industry, the mold temperature is determined. During the injection molding process, the mold temperature directly affects the filling of the plastic, the shaping of the plastic part, the molding cycle and the quality of the plastic part.

The main purpose of controlling the mold temperature is to heat the mold to the operating temperature and keep the mold temperature constant at the operating temperature, which optimizes the cycle time and thus ensures a stable high quality of the molded part.

Mold temperature affects surface quality, fluidity, shrinkage, injection cycle and deformation. Excessive or insufficient mold temperature can have different effects on different materials.

The effect of mold temperature on the processing

Affecting flow properties: If the injection molding material is temperature sensitive and has poor flow properties, increasing the mold temperature increases the fluidity of the material and makes it easier to fill.

Affecting cycle time: The mold temperature affects the cooling of the product, thereby adjusting the cycle time.

Affect the release performance: improperly adjust the temperature of the mold during the injection molding process or the mold temperature control is unreasonable, which will cause the temperature of the mold surface to be too high, causing some injection molding materials to form a very small release toughness during the processing, which destroys the injection molding. The shape and size of the product.

Effect of mold temperature on product quality

If the surface temperature of the mold does not reach a suitable temperature, the surface of the product will be dull and rough, and the surface quality will not meet the requirements. The high mold temperature allows the product to replicate the mold surface better.

If the temperature of the mold is relatively low, the injection molded material is not easily formed or is not easily filled. If the temperature of the mold is too high, the injected melt is not easily cooled and shaped. The product is also prone to dent deformation and burrs.

In addition, due to the crystallization effect, shrinkage of certain plastic products may occur after several days or weeks, which is related not only to the surface temperature of the mold but also to the storage conditions of the product.
